April is Here

Well it has been a long time since we wrote on this thing. Life has brought us many challenges as of late. We can start with the youngest and work our way to the oldest. James has had Pneumonia for about three weeks. This is combined with two ear infections. Needless to say he has been very needy and sick. He however is a trooper and doesn't cry very much. Andrea is ready for full nights sleep again.
Kayla has been doing really good. You can see from the picture that she has prematurly lost a front tooth. This happened about a month ago. She was sitting on the stool in the kitchen and fell off the stool. The tooth shot out of her mouth roots and all. It was pretty amazing she did it withtout even getting a fat lip. I called our friend the dentist who tryed to put it back in but Kayla would have none of that.

Last but not Least Brooklyn has shorter hair than she did the other day. The story goes like this. Andrea and I were in the bedroom getting ready and putting some laudry away. Andrea asked me what are the girls doing they are pretty quiet. I went in the kitchen and found some hair on the kitchen floor. I then looked at the back of Brooklyn's head and saw that it looked like it had been cut. I told Andrea that she had better come take a look. After further examination we found that Kayla had set Brooklyn up in the hair room. They took a chair in there and put a cape on Brooklyn and commenced to butchering her hair. She had a nice short spot in the middle of her head. You can see from the pictures how nice it is to have a fabulous hair dresser in the house. It is a little shorter than we had hoped for but it turned out nice and it was a good lesson for Brooklyn.

That is enough for now. Until the next time. Be safe.

Merry Christmas!

Well, here we are again, way behind. Unfortunately, thats just how it goes I guess. We've had lots of drama in the past month and a half, most of which we tried to let family know- but here's the lowdown: James' cold he had turned into pnumonia! Crazy, and we spent part of a day in the hospital getting xrays and such. Good thing- we caught it just before it had a chance to get really bad. So we were able spend only a little time there, but left with 4 meds to give him every day! Now he great and healthy and growing like crazy. He loves his daddy and spending time with him- but also adores his sisters. He's such a happy boy, smiles at everyone, giggles and laughs all the time. He's just about crawling, which is so exciting for mom.:)
Our little Kayla has been through the most recently. She had some weird things going on- that we originally thought were from the car accidents at the beginning of the year. But the doctor was a little suspcious that something else might be going on, so she ran some blood tests to see what was going on. We then found out that one of her levels that supplies blood to the bone marrow was 4xs the normal amount. They did some further testing- everything came back normal- so really the only possibility they were looking at at that point was leukemia. Talk about scary! So then they did a bone scan on her which turned up normal. At that point, because nothing was adding up, they redid the blood test again. Those findings came back just slightly higher than normal, nothing like before. We were so relieved. They said either there was a mistake with the test originally, or whatever her body was fighting fixed itself. We know that either way, the Lord heard our prayers and our little girl is okay! We will do one more blood test just to confirm that everything is still normal. Talk about a relief!

Now we face one more health stress- Brooklyn is having tubes put in her ears tomorrow morning at 6:30 am! She has chronic fluid in one of them that is making it hard for her to hear correctly. But other than that, our big girl is growing healthy and strong. Our girls are such good playmates and have enjoyed learning to play together.

Other than those stresses, the Lord is taking good care of us and we (the parents) have been just fine.:) We've had snow dumped on us, which has made travel extremely difficult, but it's so much fun! I've never seen this much snow, storm after storm. So it's been really exciting for me!:)

Brett's parents came from Denver at the beginning of the week and plans on staying through Christmas. So that's been great.

We hope all is well with everyone- and wish you all a wonderful and merry Christmas!!

Ok So we are not as good as we thought!!

Ok well we we thought we would be able to update this thing every Sunday. We haven't been able to but get over it!, Life Happens!!
Things are going good at the Hansen house hold. My (Brett) work hours have changed and now I am working 1000 in the morning until 6 at night. While this might sound like decent hours they stink. I have only worked those hours for one week and am already trying to find a way to change them. Monday through Friday with those hours, I can't get anything done. By the time we get up and get around it's time to go to work or darn close. Then by the time I get home at 6:30 and we have dinner it's time to start the kids bed time ritual.

I am not really sure how my traffic partner Sean did it for almost a year. The only thing I can think of is that his home life is different then mine. I know his kids don't go to bed as early as mine. But who knows, all I know is that it doesn't work for me. I submitted a memo to see if the Captain would let me work Swing shift hours. That got the thumbs down. This week we will have to work on some other strategy.
I had my birthday since the last time we blogged. The family got together and gave me some money so that I could buy a new scope for my .243 rifle I picked up while mom and dad were here.

Andrea and I thought it would be a good idea to go and get our eyes tested. Not such a good idea. Now we are both in glasses. Andrea wears hers all the time and looks really good in them I might add. I wear mine sometimes and probably should wear them more but I haven't got used to the idea that I am getting old and my eyes are going.

The kids are doing fine. At our house we still go to the doctor all the time but for us we are doing well. Brooklyn has some fluid behind one of her ear drums so we sound like we are talking to her under water. James has a double ear infection and is breaking through his bottom teeth and Kayla is fighting the cold that everyone else is fighting.
I hope this finds everyone well and happy. I will add some new pictures for your viewing enjoyment. So long until the next time or until Andrea gets up here.

09-14-2008

Hello it's Sunday again, and like we said we will try and post to this thing every week. So here it goes.

Nothing too new this week. The kids are all doing well. Andrea will be taking James to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane this week. He will be seeing a pediatric Gastrointerologist named Dr. Abu-Harb. He is the one that did the scope on Kayla to find out that she had celiac disease. I can't help but wonder what he will say when we are back with another! I think it may be kind of humerous. It will be an interesting visit though. James is a different case. What he is doing is not normal. He is gaining weight great, and growing like a weed. The problem is the only formula he can keep down is 10 dollars a bottle and if he eats anything else he is in great pain. Our pediatrician has done several tests that have all come back negative except the one that shows he does have a reflux problem. Enough of that I guess we will give an update there next week.

Tomorrow moring at the butt crack of dawn Scott and I leave for our annual week long elk hunt. We are not as ready as we should be but we are going to get out of dodge and enjoy the moutains for a few days. Hopefully we will come back successful. Kirk, Tiffany's husband has decided to join us from Colorado this year. He will be hunting but he is going to hang out with us for few days and enjoy the mountians. He was able to get a good deal on a plane ticket and wanted to come. Dad is here on business and says that he is going to try and come on Friday for the day and maybe the night. That would be nice for him to come and visit. We miss having him along for the hunt.

Andrea will be home with the kids and hopefully won't go crazy. She is a little apprehensive about being home with all three kids for a week. We usually do a good job taking turns so that we don't go insane. Like Scott said the first couple of years will be hard because they are so close in age but then it will be nice. Pray for Andrea to have strenght. Mom promises that she will be around to help and her mom invited her to come over and hang out when she needs too.

The kids all woke up with nasty colds this morning so I hope those go away quick. That will make the week go by better for her.

Brooklyn is back in school and loving it everyday. She loves her teacher Mrs. Michelle as they call her and loves to learn. She had a great birthday this week and got a giant easel that she and Kayla can do art on. They expirmented with finger paint all over the back porch the back sliding door and each other on Tuesday. I came home for lunch to find them both in the shower.

Well that is all for now, I hope I have some good hunting pics to show next week. May God bless you and your families.

Well were moving into the 21st century. We are going to try and keep this blog thing updated. We are horrible at letters and emails and maybe this way we can get to all of you by you coming to us.
If you don't know we had our third child James Richard at the end of May. He is now three months and following in his sisters' foot steps. He has acid reflux!! There is something more to it but we don't know what it is. He is an angel baby other than that. He smiles and talks all day long at anyone and everyone. His sisters adore him, Kalya can't kiss him enough and Brooklyn is the little mommy.

Brooklyn just started her second year of pre-school and loves her teacher Mrs. Michelle. Her best friend Logan is in her class this year. On her first day of school she informed her teacher that she was going to marry Logan!! She just had her fourth birthday on the 5th and is as ornery as ever. She is a great big sister and mommy's best helper.

Kayla is 20 months old now. She talks a lot although we can't understand much of what she says. She loves to sing and sings all the time. She is a lot like her mother and very stubborn. She is always pressing the envelope to see what she can get away with. One of her favorite things is to tease her sister.

And last but not least there is Daisy. She is the dog. Some days she drives us crazy other days we love her. She is great with the kids and lets them wallow her all they want.

Well we don't want to out do ourselves on the first night so here you go. Maybe next Sunday we can get together and do this again!!!

Welcome!

Thank you sis for inspiring me to do our family's! This is for all you out there who don't think I keep in touch enough! (Which is probably everyone I know!:)) I hope you enjoy weekly entries, (I can't promise anything, but I'm sure gonna try!) about the happenings in the Hansen home, as boring as they may be. But it makes me think somehow I'm preserving our family history, and making it accessible to anyone else as well. So have fun reading, and I do promise to respond to any postings!
